Washed out look, despite low use, and consumables above 50%
Hi, I've been to see two 7760GXs recently, as I look for an A3 colour laser printer. Unfortunately they have both had problems. One was demoed to me via a laptop with the wrong drivers installed on it. Subsequently, it printed excellent quality, but at 50% reduction no matter what settings we chose from the print dialogue. The second machine, was demoed with the correct drivers installed, but the quality just was not as good as the first machine. In particular, a bank note image, and an image of a stack of magazines, both appear washed out. These images looked excellent on the first machine I saw. So what's the second machine's problem? It has consumables all above 50%, official Xerox inks, and only a 34k page count / usage. I've checked it has the latest firmware (5.2.1), I've printed using Photo image quality. I've printed using colour correct set to: -Automatic -sRGB Display -Use Printer Setting On the printer, I've set both "sRGB Display", and "none" in TekColor Corrections, but neither TekColor profile setting made any difference. I did a Basic and Advanced colour calibration, and it has improved the tint of grey, but not solved the washed out / quality issue. What could be wrong? The seller of the first machine is not allowing me to visit again to show that his machine would work with the correct drivers installed. The seller of the second machine is doing me a great deal on price, and happy for me to visit again to attempt to resolve the washed out problem on-site, or to sell me the machine and offer a free return and refund if I can't overcome the problem once I've got the machine home. So what could the problem be? How would I go about solving it? Wondering if it's something I can solve or not. Am away from home atm, but in the coming days I can post photos and videos of the difference in image quality between the two machines.
