Water doesn't enter washer in rinse cycle. water at hose-bib is on. NEW water vavles installed. Electrical connections correct. If i "change" the water level selector, the water begins filling, but if i leave the water level selector alone, all i get is "agitator" turning for rinse cycle, then spin cycle, then "OFF"
This sounds like a defective water level switch. You don't say what model, but if you changed the water valves yourself, make sure the rubber hose going to the water level switch is not pinched. That can do the same thing you describe. If this helps, please rate my answer. Thank you.
On a *very* rare occasion I have seen fabric softener get into the water level hose connection on the outer tub and cause a partial clog which made the water level switch act erratically. But that is extremely rare and I only saw it once in 30 years. That one had me puzzled. ;-) If your machine agitates in rinse without letting water in, it would indicate the water level switch is not sensing the water has been pumped out and "thinks" it is still full. Pull the clear rubber hose off the water level switch and blow through it. It should be clear and if there is enough water in the tub you will hear it bubble. If you start the washer in wash cycle, and it starts to let water in, stop and advance to the rinse cycle. If it still lets water in, suspect the water level switch (or a partial clog), if it does not let water in, the timer is the suspect.
