Water Hammer Two plumbers have been over and we still have the pipe bang upon shut-off of sinks, etc. The last guy said if the 2 aresters did not solve the problem, he suggests putting an expansion tank some where in the domestic water system - just like the one we have on the heating system. What do you think of this idea ?

If you have a water meter put a check valve right after it, or as close as you can. Most water meters cannot subtract water that returns back thru them when pressure tanks are in use. I think pressure tanks are a good idea, I would put one high in the house to supply good pressure to the upper floors.
