Water heater pilot light out...I think...no hot water....three lights on and the "vacation" light. Tried the instructions for relighting and it kicked back to the same three lights

If you have error lights on gas control valve, then water heater has thermopile instead of themocouple. Thermopile will generate more current to power electronics inside gas control valve.
