We have a La Pavoni epg-8 Latte machine. When I turn it on steam escapes through the cap of the boiler. We have only used it about a dozen times, so its practically new. the O-ring appears to be in good shape. I don't know if I lost a piece on the inside of the cap. If I look inside of the cap of the boiler I see a hole in the center. If I fill the cap with water it seems to drain out the center hole. What am I missing?
Hi there, I am an engineer that services these machines on a daily basis. Good news - you are not missing anything at all. The type of cap you have, has a safety release valve built in which will be the hissing sound. If you fill the boiler as normal, turn on the machine and allow to boil up as normal and if steam starts hissing out and does not stop then just give it a light tap and this should stop. Basically when these machines are new the spring inside sticks and once you have tapped it a few times to release it, it should loosen it up and it will give a brief hiss then stop as the machine heats up. I hope this helps but if you have any further questions you can get me at [email protected]
