We have a Moen one handle faucet in the bathtub. It was installed opposite for water but I see the answer to that question is to flip the cartridge. Well, now the appears that something is stripped as the handle will not turn so we had to turn off the water. Is there an easy solution to this or do we need to call a plumber?
Moen cartridges have two rubber pieces on their sides. If they have slipped out of place they could cause the cartridge to bind and not turn. Shut off the water and remove and inspect the cartridge. Check for tears or other damage to the cartage and replace if necessary. When reinstalling use a little plumbers grease around the unit. Moen used to include a little packet with their replacement units but have quit doing it.
If the handle spins, but the cartridge remains stationary, then the stop inside the handle is broken and the handle must be replaced. To test, remove handle and see if you can turn the stem with a pliers. If you can turn the water on, then I'm right. Replace the handle. If not, then you have me stumped.
