We have a Pentair 400 heater. First time to heat the pool. Want to make sure it is working correctly. Temperature going up but the heater is cutting off every few minutes.

You probally just need to increase your water flow. On the pipes going to the heater their should be a valve bridging the inlet and outlet pipes. This valve should be closed about 80-90% so it forces more water through the heater. I hope this helps.
