We have an Ingersoll Rand- 100hp air compressor. We only run this periodically- when we have a power curtailment and trying to reduce power consumption or if our primary air compressor faults out. When this happens and we are running the 100hp - we keep getting a "high airend temp" and "loss of control power" error message. We have checked all fuses, power- check all control wiring, etc. and still get this fault periodically. I had an ingersoll service tech check it out and he didn't find it either- but said the controller may be going bad?? What do you suggest I can check- this is an expensive guess on part replacement

Replace the hat switch. hat = High Air temp. This switch is located on the end of the air end and usually has 1/2" flex conduit on it. Remove the conduit. It goes to a box located on the frame near and under the airend. Remove the cover from the box tug on the wires at the hat switch to see which two wires need to be disconnected.disconnect wires unscrew hat switch. Put a new oring on the new hat switch and install new hat switch. Hat switch is the only switch that will give high temp and lose control power. Let set a while and can reset unless probe is broken off.
