We have taken over the equipment of a failed restaurant, but the main central processing unit is missing. We need someone that can help us reinstate a good functioning POS system using as much of the remaining pieces as possible to minimize costs. The current system is: PCAmerica.com After the system is established, it will be possible that we will need ongoing support too

This is obviously a problem that you will not fix simply asking to Fixya technicians. You need to install software in a central unit, that depending on your system can be just a common computer or a dedicated server.
You will be able to use most of your POS equipment, doing an upgrade of central unit and software.
The first step would be identifying the kind of system (CRE/RPE). I suggest calling PCAmerica at 1-800-342-5729 or (845) 920-0888.
If that does not fix the problem I suggest ordering a one year contract ($250 per station). Here the link.

Honestly I don't think that remote support at Fixya will be enough to restore and setup a 20 stations POS system. What you get here is mostly step by step guidance in repairing appliances, mostly from common brands.
PCAmerica technical documentation does not get distributed to personal operating outside the company. Hi.
