Western Digital My Book freezes computer on boot up
My computer freezes up when I go to boot it up while the Western Digital My Book (1TB) connected in the USB drive. My operating system is Windows XP and it freezes on the Windows blue screen. Any solutions?

Mine boots fine if I unplug (better yet, hold the flat button down on the back for about 5 seconds, and it will turn off).
I had this prob as well - disabling usb legacy support in bios setup worked a treat
That's really brilliant, but I don't have ANY way to disable legacy USB support in BIOS on my Acer Aspire 5920G notebook. No other ideas?
That's brilliant indeed, by I don't have ANY obvious way to disable USB legacy support in my bloody simple BIOS in an Acer Aspire 5920G notebook. Any other ideas, anyone?
I have had this problem in the past with my external harddrive. You have to go into the bios and turn off legacy usb. But if you have a usb mouse or keyboard (wireless or wired) they won't work. But your pc should bootup with the harddrive plugged in. This was how I fixed the problem with my WD My Book 750GB but I can't promise it will work with anything else. BUT DON'T TURN OFF LEGACY USB IF YOU HAVE USB MOUSE OR KEYBOARD!
Apologies, I must have missed reading solution #1 even though I thought I read it through.
