Western Digital not working
Recently my WD250 isn't showing up on my computer. I plug it in, I get the USB connect sound, but no drive. I went through the Computer Manager and it shows up, but it always freezes. It seems like when I plug it in, its slow and freezes everything. But when I disconnect it, everything is fine again. Is there any way to recover the data or someone tell me what I can do next? I've tried to plug it in the wall and its not working and I refused to put it in the freezer.

Mine was recognizing, but also freezing. It was a problem with the drive and it wasn't recoverable. I will say, the more you try to load it and pull the info from it, the more damage you cause to the drive if anything is recoverable.
If you want to try and recover it, you need to contact a recover agency and send it in. Eco Data Recovery is great. Don't keep plugging and replugging it in. You are losing more and more each time. You can pay up to 1K depending on your drive. They told me I couldn't recover mine but to hold onto that they were working on the technology for what is wrong with mine and I could send it in a couple of years from now.
They advised me to stay away from 500+GB because (in '08) the technology wasn't there and he sees them come through all the time. He said WD was the worst. ouch. Each one of my drives has a back up. My info is precious, you can never have to many.
Word to the wise:
Have an external drive to backup your computer... trust me, one day your drive will fail... give it time. It happened to me twice... at the same time. How much are your pictures, video's worth..... is it worth losing? I lost my babies first years.. :(
Does you drive make any
