What can cause no spark when cranking?
1993 nissan maxima 3.OL 2 day ago there was spark when cranking but today there is no spark when cranking i check for spark at the coil and spark plug wire no spark what all i need to check to fix the problem?

If your doing a lot of cranking and testing, You need to hook up battery charger or use jumper cables to see if spark comes back. Make sure the battery has a full charge and connections all good. Even if battery is only down a couple of tenths, it might make a difference. 12.6 volts is the generic spec for a full charge. I have seen starter motor taking all the voltage, not much if anything left for ignition system. Could be other issues?
the scan tool i have it just Check for applicable trouble codes from 1996 and newer vehicles, where is the diagnostic connector located on the 1993 nissan maxima? i don't see it under the left driver's side of the instrument panel.
You get at the ecu/electronic control unit, under center of dash, then follow instructions in picture, look for flashing lite, count the flashes, looking for two digit codes.
Does the tachometer register while cranking the engine ?
no the tachometer just barely move of O while cranking the engine how do i test the coil on this car? no spark from the coil.
