A thermistor senses the temperature by the changing resistance inside it, the name thermistor is short for thermostat/ resistor. As the temperature goes up or down the the resistance inside the thermistor will change in relation to the temperature. This resistance is then used by the electronics to determine what the temperature is in the area where the thermistor is located.
