What else could I check
I need to start a Datsun Pulsar, 1400. I think it's a 1980 model. There is fuel and spark. Points gap is set at 0.50mm. The headlights come on when you turn on the ignition even with the lights swithed off which leads me to believe there is a short somewhere. The car has been standing for the last 10 months. I have installed a new battery.

Not sure but check to see if there is a white porcelain resistor mounted on firewall if its gone datsuns wont start with spark or fuel ok
