Yes, there is a bit of risk involved. Belts don't last forever, so change at the recommended interval-and while doing so, it is best practice to have a new water pump installed also-it is good insurance against failure, and easy to change the water pump when changing the timing belt. The belt may last for 200,000 miles, who knows? The problem is if the belt breaks when the engine is running, there could be serious internal engine damage. I would change it now to avoid that possibility.
No, unfortunately, they don't give any warning. One minute, everything is fine, then, you will hear a loud pop, and the car will be immobile. No, unfortunately, they don't give any warning. One minute, everything is fine, then, you will hear a loud pop, and the car will be immobile.
It should be still good. the timing belt like the name say's make sure that the piston and the valves are working in the good order. if the belt brakes you pistons will hit the valves and bend them causing a major repair to do on the engine. its good to change the belt every 60000 miles or so. since yours is about 40000 miles you still have a lots of time on it. hope it helps

No, I'm at 132,000 miles. Are there any warning signs?
