What should be done after P0440 evap .malfunction repeatedly causes engine light to come on?
Mechanics and now myself turned off the light repeatedly . We have taken it repeatedly for different driving times and distances after turning light off only for the light to come back on. Mechanic wants to do a smoke test. However different mechanics say this could damage other parts of the engine.

Smoke test is pretty normal to find leak..we use it for any evap we can't find ...could b as easy as has gas cap seal...
