You are talking about over 1000vac at start up and about 500vac after the lamps are lit, it will have variable pusle width depnds on the brightness setting. I wouldn't put the scope probe there. I would use a small fluorescent lamp or test lamps removed from other TV for testing. What is th symptom? I would also Ohm out all the transfomers for open or shorted winding, no blown MOSFETs?
I will use the PICO fuse from DIGIKEY, I only use resistor for testing only, the inverter can draw up to 3~4A of current or more, at 1 Ohm, you will have about 4V (R x I = E, 1 Ohm x 4A= 4V) drops across the resistor, it will get very hot, 4V x 4A = 16W. You need to verify the voltage drop on the resistor. If it is too hot to touch then it is no good. Please verify. Inverter is the one that draws the most power from power supply.
