Most mowers today have either a 3.5 to 7 HP Briggs and Stratton or a Tecumseh engine on them and they usually recommend a straight 30 weight oil in them; not a multi-viscosity, since you do not run them year round. A good synthetic 30 weight is even better and will hold up longer between oil changes. I run 30 in all my mowers. Best of luck to you. James
