It will bounce around in the disposal and make a lot of noise. Best case, it can become lodged between a beater arm on the rotor and the cutting holes along the side of the disposal and lock your disposal up. Worst case, it's possible for the beater arms to hit it in a way to send it flying out of the disposal. You really need to remove it, it will never get chopped up enough to pass through the disposal. Take out the rubber insert in the sink and fish out the coil, if you're good with them chop sticks work great for this.
