What would cause a 2014 ford fusion from starting after it had been driven for 30 minutes of city driving, some highway, and had a stop at the train tracks to wait on a train going by?
2014 ford fusion will start and does run. sometimes i come home and have to run back out, but the car will not start. the starter engages and it seems like gas is getting to the pistons, but there is no fire and it sputters for about five seconds then stops. i wait about 15 seconds and try it again, same thing. wait again, still won't start. wait, turn the key, it starts but the check engine light comes on. i drive to my destination, stop, wait to pick someone up, they get in the car, i push the gas pedal and the car sputters and stops. i put my foot on the break, cycle through the gears, put the car in park and try to restart the car. Sputters. Dies. Turn the switch off, wait try it again. sputters. So, after waiting for several hours and calling the tow truck, try it again, it starts, we tell the truck driver goodbye and speed home. get to the driveway, pull in, car starts to sputter, put the car in park and it dies.

Sputtering is usually a sign of having a fuel issue. You need to hook a fuel pressure gauge to the fuel rail and confirm that you have at least 40# of pressure at the rail.
The dealer checked it three times and said that the could not recreate the problem. they think it might be electrical, so they are changing the battery junction or connector box per my request. This will be the last thing this dealership will do. If this doesn't work, I can try a different dealer or look for an attorney to help with the state's "lemon law".
Good Luck. I know chasing intermittent issues can be the worst.
