When i boot up,get 1 long beep, two short beeps,no picture, went back to built in Nvidia came with computer, that works fine have a Nvidia GeForce 8600 GTS 256MB RAM,PCI
The beeps are post during post the very first work is done by the ram,all the memory in the ram is first transferred to the hard disk, and remains active untill turned off.
make sure that your RAM is securely seated
One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive
Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA
the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electic extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error hope this helps
thank you for your help, but as you know when i put this video card in i have no picture,so i am not able to check anything that you listed, except that all my cables are secure, tried reseating video card, same result, beeps, never had an issue with drivers that were installed, can't see them when it is not installed, only see built in cards drivers, was told by another that those beeps under a phoenix bios meant corrupted video card or not seated properly, tried that,no difference, assuming card is no good. Thanks again for you trying to help.thank you for your help, but as you know when i put this video card in i have no picture,so i am not able to check anything that you listed, except that all my cables are secure, tried reseating video card, same result, beeps, never had an issue with drivers that were installed, can't see them when it is not installed, only see built in cards drivers, was told by another that those beeps under a phoenix bios meant corrupted video card or not seated properly, tried that,no difference, assuming card is no good. Thanks again for you trying to help.
