When i engage the switch,the lights are no longer coming on and i cannot hear that click that i normally do when it engages? Also my cruise control displays the green light that it is engaged but does not actually engage. Both of theses things have occurred simultaneously before but my mechanic cannot remember for the life of him how he fixed this before
Hi! Just a tip. Try replacing the automatic transmission fluid and filter. You will experience a smooth run and the transmission may engage after performing this. Hope this helps. have a nice day
Its posible that you have Multi-Function (Combination) SwitchRemoval & Installation
CAUTION If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in the Chassis Electrical Section.
Disable the SIR system.
Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil.
Remove the hazard knob mounting bolt and hazard knob from the steering column.
Remove the wave washer from the upper steering shaft.
Install tool J23653-SIR or equivalent to the upper steering shaft and depress the shaft lock.

Remove the bearing retainer from the upper steering shaft.
Remove the shaft lock.
Remove the turn signal cancel cam assembly.
Remove the upper bearing spring.

Unscrew and remove the tilt lever handle.
Remove the turn signal switch lever
Remove the flat head tapping screw.
Remove the round washer head screw.
Remove the signal switch arm assembly.
Remove the pan head screws.
Disconnect the turn signal switch assembly from the bulk head connector.
Attach a wire to the turn signal switch assembly connector. This will help to make the installation easier.
Remove the turn signal switch assembly.
Pull the turn signal switch assembly connector through the column.
To install:
Attach a wire to the turn signal switch wiring connector.
Feed the turn signal switch assembly through the column.
Connect the turn signal switch assembly connector to the bulk head connector.
Install the turn signal switch assembly on to the upper shaft assembly.
Install the pan head screws and tighten to 80 inch lbs. (9 Nm).
Lubricate the signal switch arm assembly with synthetic grease.
Install the signal switch arm assembly.
Install the flat head tapping screw and tighten to 20 inch lbs. (2 Nm).
Install the round washer head screw and tighten to 31 inch lbs. (4 Nm).
Install the turn signal switch lever.
Install the tilt lever handle.
Install the upper bearing spring.
Install the turn signal cam assembly.
Install the shaft lock to the upper steering shaft.
Install the bearing retainer on to the upper steering shaft.
Install tool J23653-SIR or equivalent to upper steering shaft and depress shaft lock.
Install the bearing retainer to the upper steering shaft groove.
Install the hazard knob and hazard knob mounting screw to the steering column and tighten to 20 inch lbs. (2 Nm).
Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil.
Enable the SIR system.
CAUTION If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in the Chassis Electrical Section.
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Disable the SIR system.
Remove the steering wheel.
Remove the knee bolster.
Remove the two nuts securing the steering column to the instrument panel.
Lower the column.
Remove the tilt lever handle.
Remove the upper and lower shrouds.
Remove the two wire harness straps.
Remove one wire harness strap from the steering column tilt head assembly.
Remove the wire harness assembly from the wire harness strap. Fig. The control module must be removed when working on a tilt/telescope column
When working on the power tilt and telescope column remove three wire harness straps: Remove the green, brown, natural and the black, connectors from the E&C interface module assembly. Remove the E&C interface module assembly from the lower wire shield. Open the lower wire shield to remove the wire harness assembly (note the direction and placement of wires in the shield).
