When I insert the usb drive into my computer it is being recognized but then when I try to access it it says please insert a disk into drive f. It's not even allowing me to format it

Hello, sounds like your drive F: is the cd or dvd drive..or maybe even a virtual cd drive. but definitely not the usb drive. Try to right-click on all of your visible drives in turn, go down to 'properties' and see if any of them are around 4gb in size. This will be your usb drive. Are you plugging it directly into the computer or through a hub...if through a hub try plugging directly into a computer usb port till you've successfully identified the drive letter.
