My Makita drill just started having this same problem. I got out a voltmeter and opened up the side and tested the voltage going to the switch and to the motor. The switch was not sending power to the motor. You can order a new switch online for around $30, you can find the parts list by searching the Makita website for your model, then search for the part number on google to find a place to buy it. This question is a year old but maybe this will help someone else.
