Hi. As an ex. kicker engineer I know these amps. pretty well. The amp. is in protection due to an internal short More than likely it will be an output transistor or a bank of them. Try running up the amp. with no load (i.e disconnect all speaker leads) to make sure you have no shorts on any of them. If you would like it repaired I do offer this service & carry all the spares for these amps so if you know someone who can fault find & repair it I can also supply the necessary parts if need be. Good luck!
I would love for you to look at my kicker zx700.5 I hooked it up using the wrong speaker wire im told, it worked for about 5 minutes then went into flashing protection mode. I want to replace an amp in my sons car with it that is properly wired, im told, but the flashing red protection light is all I get. The ground and power as well as the remote wiring is fine because the amps that are there work fine. - [email protected] if you would let me know how to reach you.I would love for you to look at my kicker zx700.5 I hooked it up using the wrong speaker wire im told, it worked for about 5 minutes then went into flashing protection mode. Its fault circuitry has been activated. There could be a couple of issues. here is a good place to start.
Check your wiring. Ensure that you voltage is correct at the amp level 12+v
Re-ground Often the problems with the circuitry fault is the Ground. Get a good spot, scrape as much paint as you can and use star washers.
Be sure your amp is adequate for your load. Calculate your speakers make sure the resistance value is enough for the amp. ( this usually not a problem with that amp)
lastly check your turn-on. Whether Signal or voltage, be sure there is enough to turn the amp on properly. If there is a low signal, it could be a bad turn-on wire. ( not typical with Kicker. They can turn on with voltage as little as 2v.)
That should do it if it's not one of those, have the amp circuitry looked at. My guess would be a bad ground.
