It is extremely good practice to replace the following when doing a timing belt
belt
hydraulic adjuster
all idler pulleys
cam shaft seal/s
crankshaft seal
oil is the greatest destroyer of belts so seals are a must and all of the rest have done the same amount of work as the belt
the motto is , do it once , do it properly and it will be good for another 60k miles or 100k klm
might cost a bit more but it can all be done for an extra hour labor and there is no bent valves expected in the future
i bought a timing belt & component kit it came with crankshaft front seal, timing belt,
timing belt tensioner and some gaskets no cam shaft seals didn't come in the kit so what i do about that?
go out and get them from a bearing sales shop
as the belt cover is plastic , it would be unusual to gate a gasket around it
To check the engine i would make sure all the pulleys are ok then time the engine slip a new belt on turn the engine round 4-6 times by hand before turning the key. If it runs good then do As the previous answer , and change the water pump if it is run off the cambelt. If it dont run good then you will need to find out which bank is at fault and remove the cylinder head or heads to replace the damaged valves. It might pay to replace them all and lap them in, test each valve for leaks ( you can pour duck oil or wd40 in the valve ports and leave for a couple of minutes to see if it leaks. I use a smoke machine if it leaks remove valve and relap and test ) before replacement of heads
