Yes, the dryer is fixable but you will need to see if it is the control board or the motor the is causing the short. Start by checking the control board for burnt spots and the motor as well.
Check the dryer to ensure that it can turn freely and all lint is removed from the lint trap. Overheating from accumulated lint or a poor drive belt may cause the circuit breaker to trip make sure you have a 30 amp breaker in the breaker box here is the complete schematic for your machine http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Fisherpaykel-Parts/Dryer-Parts/Model-DG05US0/3068/0151200?searchedModel=DG05&blt= assure that you do have 120 coming in through each side of the outlet do you have a multimeter and are you fluent with doing electrical tests on a appliance? Message me back if you are and we can go through the dryer testing each spot to find where the break is Thanks again Rick
wow 100 dollars thats a huge rip off should cost you maybe 65-85 if you cant do the electrical testing then you would have to call for service i can tell you it might be this or that but without you doing the test to assure that it is faulty we would never know and you would be replacing parts without knowing if they're faulty call around and see about priceing use the little guys the bigger ones like sears are always a rip any further questions message me back Thanks again Rick
And please remember to rank how this opinion has helped in your appliance situation it allows me to help others in the future Thanks Rickwow 100 dollars thats a huge rip off should cost you maybe 65-85 if you cant do the electrical testing then you would have to call for service i can tell you it might be this or that but without you doing the test to assure that it is faulty we would never know and you would be replacing parts without knowing if they're faulty call around and see about priceing use the little guys the bigger ones like sears are always a rip any further questions message me back Thanks again Rick

as long as you have kept up with the dryer and dlinted it at least once a year it should last you awhile then again if someone wants to charge you a 189 i would just get a newer model and try to stick with easy repair models like whirlpool they are the cheapest to repair as well no matter which machine you do decide on machines arent made like they were in the 60s and 70s where they made them to last todays models are only made to last maybe 5 years and then they would need new parts due to them not informing the customer how to maintain there machines lint is the killer of all dryers Thanks again Rickas long as you have kept up with the dryer and dlinted it at least once a year it should last you awhile then again if someone wants to charge you a 189 i would just get a newer model and try to stick with easy repair models like whirlpool they are the cheapest to repair as well no matter which machine you do decide on machines arent made like they were in the 60s and 70s where they made them to last todays models are only made to last maybe 5 years and then they would need new parts due to them not informing the customer how to maintain there machines lint is the killer of all dryers Thanks again Rick
