Your issue sounds as though it is the power supply that is in need of replacement. If there is a steady red light on then the PC unit is not getting it -12/+12/-5/+5 voltage at the connectors also you may have inadvertently switched the cable connections that is pin 1 of the cables is not getting the voltage it needs to the device. The red line on the cable or the (+) is the supply pin to that device. 1. check the power supply and all the connectors. 2. clean all dust from the inside of the the connector and around the CPU 3.check the CMOS battery (looks like a new quarter) should show 3.7 volts with a volt meter.
