When I turn the player on it starts to load the DVD but stops just after 1 or 2 minutes. Also if I take out the power cord it plays longer but still stops
You DVD has a laser in it called a laser pickup. This part commonly fails in most DVD players. From the symptoms that you described this is your problem. Sometimes you can clean the laser pickup and it will work. In most cases it wont work no matter what you do it.
Unplugg your DVD player
Take phillips head screwdriver
Unscrew the top from and take it off.
The laser pickup is the center of where thre DVD spins when it is inside your DVD player. It should be a clear or reddish round bead that sits on a plastic slider.
Take some dry toilet tissue and clean the laser very gently.
If this doesn't solve your problem your laser pickup is bad. Even if you can see the laser come on it is still bad. This is a sighn of a more complicated problem caused my the microprocesser. This is an expensive fix either way it goes and by the retail price of a good DVD player at Wal- Mart being around $60. Why would you pay $100. in parts and labor.
the problem is from the laser (lens) of your player. The laser (lens) is very weak, that's why it's difficult for it to load DVD.
If you insert an Audio CD into the player, you will discover that it will load it without any problem.
Get a laser (lens) cleaner, use it to clean the laser (lens). If that doesn't solve the problem, then you will have to replace the laser (lens) of your player to a brand new one and the problem will be solved.
