When I turn the system on after a split second the screen goes dull, o have changed batteries and configured the stylus but it is very hard to see . I have tried the buttons at the base of the unit which did not help

It sounds like you did everything to try and fix it..did you let the batteries stay out at least ten seconds? It sounds like it's quite defective. and I would give it back to the store you bought it from? if it's been a long time you also can send the company a note directly to the manufacturer. Or you can buy a new one, and return the old one nit's box? good luck!
