When my computer goes to boot up I get nothing but a black screen. It sounds like it is booting up but even if I press F8, nothing! I have Windows 7 which was installed by my brother and do not have the cds that it came with (my brother in law has them since he ordered it through his company and he is in NC). It is refurbished. Please help. I am desperate, I have a business presentation on Thursday. I have an external hard drive and another really old laptop which is what I am using to get advice from here. I can basically only use it for the internet to try to fix my Acer. Thanks in advance!

I had this problem before with my Acer extensa . I fixed it by repairing the OS.
You need the OS CD to repair Operation system . Try another CD if you can't get the original one . But it will ask for product serial , so try to have it before you start repairing.
