When my "off" time shuts off pool and timer. it short circuits the circuit breaker. Also, electrician installed the timer laying down to fit into breaker area, is this the cause or is this new timer faulty?
The timer switching off has nothing to do with it's location, it has to be in the wiring, One of those wires is in the wrong place. It is sending the juice back to the ground or neutral. Inside your timer, you have a place for 2 or 4 wires? One in, one out, the switch completes the circuit, turns on, turns off, the white wire is in there to run the clock and complete continuity to the pump? which is 220 volts? If yes, then you are switching 4 wires, 2 in, and 2 out, both colored, and the ground if there is one is screwed to a green screw inside the timer. The 2 wires in(4) 2 colored, 1 white, 1 bare or green, should be on the "line" screws, the 2 wires out, (4) should be on the "load" screws. Are the in wires on a GFI breaker? Is the pump grounded? Are those screws in the right place? Does the pump run? Now that you are totally confused. Need to know some of this stuff.
