Kneading is typically used in Swedish massages or deep tissue massages, and it is used to stimulate nerves, blood vessels, glands and cellular exchanges in the area being kneaded. The kneading setting should mainly be used to increase circulation. Vibration stimulates sensory nerves which increases blood flow and temperature in that area. Vibration is most helpful to just relax, but also to help stimulate an area that is normally not reflexive due to brain injury, fatigue, or paralysis.
