Find the transmission fluid level plug, which is usually on the front of the transmission pan. Remove it using an 11mm flare nut wrench. Be careful not to lie directly beneath the plug when removing it because hot transmission fluid could spill from the opening. Have an empty container or jug on hand to catch any spilling fluid.
Check the ATF level by observing the spillage. If fluid spills from the transmission fluid level plug opening after removing the plug, the ATF level is too high. Remedy this by waiting until the spillage stops and replugging the opening. If no spillage occurs, the fluid could be too low.
