WHERE IS THE FUEL FILTER LOCATED ON A 2004 HYUNDAI TIBURON? WOULD ROUGH IDLING BE A SYMPTOM OF A BAD FUEL FILTER? 63,000 ORIGINAL MILES, ORIGINAL FUEL FILTER
Usually plugged fuel filters and/or bad pumps cause loss of power at the high end (full throttle) when you are sucking down the fuel not so much at the low end.
Rough idles can be a lot of things, usually something to do with the fuel mixture or timings. Dirty injectors, distributor problems, streatched out timing chain/belts... those are a few common rough idle issues.
Has the fuel economy gone down? Does it still have good acceleration?
Might just need a tune up, might need a timing belt. Shop could probably sort it out for ya...
A check for the timing belt and/or distributor cap/rotor is to put a timing light on it and see if the timing is jumping around. could be a indication of something 'lose' in the timing circuits.
