A short term fix for this is to replace the small porcelain rod in the impeller with a 1/8"x 2 7/8" brass rod. I had some laying around from a project for my boat. I usually get it from Lowes in the hardware section. It's in the hobby drawer. It has to be these exact dimensions or it will not fit and will tear itself apart fast. I have looked at other more durable options like possibly using a high nickel alloy such as 4140 stainless. the less ferrous, the better.
This brass replacement worked great. I also sprayed the exterior and interior with silicone spray. I can hardly hear it run! Thanks for the great easy fix.
Online search might pop up a replacement but what usually breaks is the porcelain rod inside that holds the impeller in place ive rebuilt many of them because intex didnt have a repair kit or replacement pump --can use a welding/brazing rod made of brass sell at home depot cut to size about 3 inches and put pump back together their are many youtube videos that show how to take apart the pump their are a few different pumps
I did the brass shaft fix. Easy repair if you take your time and pay attention. Have to make sure all burrs are off the brass shaft after you cut it . Anybody that wants a brass shaft made send me $2 in a self-addressed stamped envelope and I will send you one.
