Why doesn't cover lock in place?
It appears to be because the white plastic post that is supposed to be pushed down by the locking action is misaligned from the hole.

The problem is most likely in the lid where it activated the safety mechanism in the bowl or it will be the bowl itself. Only you will be able to tell which one it is.
