Check your pre-amplifier settings. There is a button along the bottom edge below the display, or possibly in the menu section, I don't remember now. The button will switch in attenuators and amplifiers.

Another item might be your RG Gain control, although this doesn't cause any beeps when used. It is easy to inadvertantly turn, reducing your received signal to almost zero.
