1. Do you have a clear view of the sky? Try a mall parking lot, or a sports field.
2. If it's new from the box, or has a factory reset done, or was powered up last in a different country, make sure the antenna is turned on, and that it's not in demonstration or simulation mode. Wait 12 minutes at least - so it can download the latest almanac from the first satellite it finds.
3. If you have a screen for signal strength, watch that, and reposition until you see at least 4 satellites with a signal level greater than 35 or 40 at the same time. Expect a fix roughly a minute later.
