What i ended up doing was i kept messing with it and adding new batteries untill i accidentally cleared the ram, but in doing so, i figured out what i did. we must have set the brightness up too much, and so the whole screen is white, so it looks like it is off. just press the on button and press second and hold the up arrow untill you can see something on your screen again.
It may be that your contrast is too light. turn the calculator on (it will not seem like it) then proceed to press the 2nd button then click the up button a few times to return to normal contrast.
Mine was acting up to. I found somewhere that the no/slow key response could be due to a short in the I/O socket. I blew into it really hard, and it worked perfectly after that. I hope this helps.
