You've got an exactly 1964 gun, Karen. The changeover year for Winchester. They retooled most of their guns that very year to cut expenses on some or to make for easier manufacturing on others. When folks talk about "pre 64 Winchesters", they mean guns made up to the year 1963 that used diff parts and had diff levels of finishing etc. In 64, Winchester started the new model 94 at serial number 2,700,000 and they went to 2,797,000 or so that first year.
