Hello there
You cant get in to the machine ?
What you have to do is downlopad and burn a 'live cd' using another windows machine, which you then use to boot your machine. It's pretty quick and painless if you follow the instructions exactly. Don't worry if it all sounds technical, just follow it.
Live CD and instructions here http://pogostick.net/~pnh/ntpasswd/
Use the cd image. I find it is easier to burn CDs
Once you HAVE the CD you can see how to reset here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dkks4iuPqNQ
Hello John
Hmmm sounds like even though you set bios, the CD is not auto starting.
1) Just to prove that is it burnt ok, and to narrow this problem, try starting the good machine using that CD. you burnt. If it does not work then you need to try again .burning another cd.
2) Also when you start your machine, have you tried pressing f12 to see if you get a 'boot' menu ? so you can boot directly from the CD ?
If you can get it to boot from the CD you will be fine.
Hello John
Well done so far.
Hmmm sounds like the CD you burnt is not auto starting.
1) Try using that CD to boot another machine just to PROVE that it works.correctly
If not, then you need to burn another CD.
The CD contains its OWN operating system and should run completely independently BEFORE windows on any PC.
2) Try pressing F12 on start to see if you get a 'boot menu' to specify the machine starts from CD.
If we still have trouble, then we need to find another version of the CD to download..
Stay with it. :)
