Wiring diagram for accessory plug needed

I want to plug in a D type external speaker into our Motorola T5419. I have tried making up a connection with a 2.5mm stereo (3 way) plug but the radio just transmitts. I'm guessing it needs a four way 2.5mm plug. Any ideas. I have 6 to wire up for our volunteer railway group. We only want to listen and do not need the microphone connection remotely connected.

I am looking for the same wiring diagram. The headset Moto sells is a single earpiece with microphone, so how does that end up being a stereo connection Neto? Just curious how, or is there also a full headset with microphone? ( I dont' know, just asking)
Would this be a 4 ring TRS connector? Sleeve = ground, then left, right, and the tip as the microphone??
I have a commercial motorola talkabout headset and the first thing I noticed was the connector is a three ring but 12 mm long instead of the usual 11 mm long. So basically, a standard 3 ring wont go in far enough. I don't have the wiring diagram though. Whatever wiring their using, its different from a standard cordless phone headset wiring.
Try first to plug the conector to the radio then turn on
This radios "reconizes" if it has an audio accesorie plugged to it. and need to plug first to turn on.
This audio accesories works with stereo plugs. So be sure that you are using the corrects terminals
