Hotpoint WMA54 won't empty water between wash and spin cycles? We've emptied filter but still no joy. Could it be the pump and how easy is it to change?

Could be the pump, but they do not often fail.
I would check the main hose or the pump itself for a blockage.
Try blowing down the hose to see if it is clear.
