Won't copy anything now
Our Sharp AL 1631 was showing low on toner, so I put a new OEM cartridge in it. It copied one page fine, but there was a 1/4" black stripe down one edge of the copy. (It was doing that with the old toner cartridge also.) I pulled the cartridge back out, and also the drum unit. I found a 1/2" wide metal strip that looks like a screen, about 10" long laying loose in the bottom where the drum and toner go. I can not see where it goes. I put the drum and toner back in and now it won't copy anything. Sheets come out blank. Any help with this?

The "screen" is actually called a grid, it is supposed to be on a unnit called the "primary" which sits on top of the drum (long silver unit) it may have a screw holding it. It must have been serviced or someone touched it, does not come off by-itself, anyway, it distributes the charge of the primary to the drum.
So look for a unit that sits directly on top of the drum unit and is the same lenght as the drum
Hope this helps (please rate. TNX)
