Won't recognize all my ram
I have a ASUS A8V 939 VIA K8T800 Pro ATX AMD Motherboard. For years I have only had 1 gb of ram (2x512mb) sticks in it. Recently, a friend gave me two 512mb ddr sticks that he didn't need anymore. Since I have 4 memory spots I went ahead and put them in there. However, for some reason the system doesn't recognize the other 2 sticks for a total of 2gbs. I've tested just these two new sticks in there by themselves and it worked fine. I tested one stick only in each slot, and it worked fine. So i know the slots work and that the sticks are good.
When I have just 2 sticks in there they have to be in either 1 & 3 slots, or 2 & 4 slots, it can't be 1 & 2 or 3 & 4. Additionally, when they are in slots 2 & 4 and I boot into the bios it makes one beep, and goes in. However, it doesn't do that when I am in slots 1 & 3. Maybe that is something?

Your help and suggestions for getting this resolved is really appreciated!
