Won't transmit I have a pair of motorola fv200 walkie talkies. Suddenly one of them won't transmit. It will receive, go through the menu, even send a call to the other, but it won't transmit via the ppt button. Suggestions?
Radio Communications - Motorola - FV200AA GMRS/FRS 2-Way Radio Walkie Talkie with 5 mile Range
Odd that you can send a call alert, so it is transmitting. I suspect the battery. As usual it seems on these radios, the battery even after a full charge will not generate enough power for a voice transmission. Voice takes more time than a "call tone" and I suspect the battery fails in voltage too quickly. No easy way to test a lithium battery either. Put up at least 1 spare and try again. Post if it worked, please.
I had the same issue with one, then both, of my Motorola Talkabout MH230R units. When I push the PTT button, the radio will seemingly recycle, as if I turned it on. It won't stay in transmit mode. The display shows all screen icons and double eights and then goes back into receive mode. Can't figure it out. Could be a switch issue.
First I would check the interference code on both radios to see if it is set the same. It is possible you have one set to zero and the other set to another number. This would cause the problem you describe. The interference eliminator is designed to block out transmissions from radios whose settings do not match it.
If all your settings are identical, and you have only 2 radios, it is not possible to tell which one has the problem. You either have one with no transmit or one with no receive. The only way to tell which you have is to get a 3rd radio involved, set to the same settings.
