If you have never tuned the antenna for best SWR, then you have probably destroyed the radio.
The antenna needs to be tuned for the radio. If this is not done then RF energy that should be transmitted from the antenna does not leave the antenna will be reflected back into the radio and it destroys the final output section of the radio.
It is reparable. You must either send it back to cobra, or take it to a tech. The Final output transistor needs replacing. Possibly more.
After you get the radio fixed, or purchase a new one, read the section in the manual about SWR. It will explain the entire SWR procedure.
If you would like I can post you the procedure as well.
