Would a defective CDI unit cause an engine not to fire over when using the starter switch and then die when shifted into reverse?
I had two intermittent problems with my original CDI unit...the engine would not shut off and the engine would cutout thus a loss of power when running. Both of these issues would disappear when applying finger pressure to a particular point on the CDI unit. I ordered a new CDI unit (Hotshot from Rick's Motorsports) and the original two issues cleared up but now I have two new problems. The engine will not fire over when using the starter switch (it will start when pulling the rope starter) and once the engine is running my ATV will die when shifted into reverse.
