"Any" is the operative word... Many machines have enough of a driver built in their BIOS to service many of these devices... BUT some do not have a compatible BIOS. SOMETIMES the BIOS can be upgraded by a bit "dangerous" flashing of an upgraded BIOS.
ALWAYS check DriverGuide.com to see if they MIGHT have a needed driver. Sometimes a GENERAL "mass storage device" driver will allow access.
MOST CD and DVD require special software such as Nero or others to write this media. You cannot write optical media the same way you write hard drives by merely copying.
